microblading + cosmetic tattoos

what is microblading?

Microblading is a manual method of implanting pigment into the skin using a small hand tool. The name is a little misleading - the tool isn't actually a blade - it's tiny needles all in a row. Light pressure is used to create little hair strokes giving a realistic look. Microblading is considered semi-permanent because pigments are used as oppposed to tattoo ink. Also, because the light pressure doesn't drive the pigment as deep into the skin, it will fade over 1-3 years. Other tools can be used to create shading or "powdered" looks as well, helping to create brows as realistic as possible.

Your natural brow hair and follicles are not harmed in any way. In fact, part of the process is to "map" where your microblading will be placed, and every effort is made to build upon your natural shape.

Powder Brow Method
Traditonal Microblading

is microblading my only option?

No! In addition to microblading, we also offer a powder brow where a tattoo machine is used to create a look similar to what a brow pencil looks like. Depending on your desired final result, the look can range from soft, to dramatic. A combination of Microblading and shading is also offered - this method is great for people with little to no hair as it can give the illusion of density.

does it hurt?

This is a tough one to answer...

Everyone has a different definition of pain, and tolerance to it. Most people describe microblading as being similar to a cat scratch or papercut, while others experience little to no discomfort. A topical lidocaine is used during the process to numb the area and lessen any discomfort. If you are concerned about your personal sensitivity, just say so! We do have the option of using a preliminary numbing gel before microblading begins, however, you may still feel a small amount of the hair strokes before the secondary numbing gel is applied.

The healing procces is similar to that of a traditional tattoo; some tightness or itching may be experienced for several days after microblading. You are sent home with aftercare instructions, as well as products to use during the healing process.

Combination Method

what's the cost?

is the beauty bar licensed?

Yes. In addition be being a Licensed Cosmetology Establishment, The Beauty Bar is also a Licensed Body Art Facility through the state of Michigan. Certain requirements must be adhered to in order to obtain this license, including technicians having a Bloodbourne Pathogens course certification, specific disinfectants being used, and thorough logging of any and all implements used. The Beauty Bar uses only disposable microblading tools and tattoo machine needles. Any mechanical pieces of the machines are covered prior to every service, and sanitized after.

The cost is dependent on what method is being done. Traditional Microblading is hair strokes only - works well for most everyone, especially those with some natural brow hair to help blend, or those just need a little oomph to their brow shape. The powder fill method is for those that love a dense look or something that mimics make-up. A combo brow is a combination of the two! The powder fill can be done over the hair strokes to fake density - perfect for those with little to no brow hair. The 6D Dual Tool method is for those wanting a full look, but aren't interested in the powdered look. Although you can combine those as well.
